Pettibon Technique

We provide advanced spinal correction utilizing the Pettibon System. Never before in the history of Chiropractic have we been able to provide this level of help and expertise that now exists. These newer correction methods are even safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before.

The Pettibon System is an advanced scientific approach to chiropractic that many doctors and patients have not experienced focusing on spine and posture correction. The Pettibon System is one of a handful of techniques whose initial and outcome assessments of patient results and progress are measurable on x-ray.

When Patients walk into Banes Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Inc. they won't see a waiting room full of people sitting and waiting to see the doctor. Instead they will see that our "Active Room" is filled with people preparing for their examination and treatment by warming up their spines and doing specific exercises that hydrate discs and warm up ligaments on Pettibon therapy equipment.

Traditional Chiropractic "pre-adjustment" therapies such as massage, heat, roller tables, e-stim, etc.  are all superficial. All of our warm up therapies actually hydrate and increase disc height. This prepares the spine for a treatment that will have staying power.

With the Pettibon System, strengthening postural muscles and building endurance is an ongoing process. To accomplish this goal, patients use various pieces of equipment in the clinic and special rehabilitation equipment twice daily at home. This is one of the things that creates long-lasting results.

The Pettibon System re-aligns the spine so that it can function optimally in its upright position relative to gravity by using the patented Pettibon weighting system.

The nervous system always wants us to hold our head upright, and it has righting reflexes that continually send it skull and spine position information. Wearing the weights alters the body's center of mass causing the righting reflexes to send new sensory information to the nervous system. To balance the body relative to the weights, the nervous system causes some involved spinal muscles to relax and others to contract, thereby correcting the spine and posture relative to gravity. Additionally, the weights force the involved muscles to do isometric exercises. These exercises are needed to restore muscle so the spine can be held in alignment after optimal strength has been gained.

Patients who experience the treatments we offer using the Pettibon System see results right away.
